Animesh Kujur Creates History: Indian sprinter Animesh Kujur created a new history by performing brilliantly in the PUMA Fast Arms and Fast Legs competition held in Germany. He completed the final of 100 meter race in 10.14 seconds and secured second position. This is the fastest time ever achieved by any Indian athlete in the 100m race abroad.

This time of animesh has also become the second fastest time in Indian history. Ahead of him is only Gurinderveer Singh, who had made a national record of 10.09 seconds in the Federation Cup this year. Animesh also performed brilliantly in the heats before the finals and clocked a time of 10.19 seconds.
Showed strength even in 100 meters
Animesh Kujur, a resident of Odisha, is mainly considered a 200 meter runner, but while participating in this competition for the first time in Germany, he showed his speed in 100 meters also. In the final, he ran brilliantly from the beginning and maintained his pace till the end. In this race, South Africa’s Under-18 World Champion Retshidisitswe Mlenga secured first place with a time of 10.03 seconds.

Eyes will be on Animesh in Commonwealth Games
Indian sprinting has seen steady improvement in the last few months. During the Federation Cup, Gurinderveer Singh and Animesh Kujur had bettered the national record thrice within 24 hours. Now Animesh has made a place in India’s 100m and 200m team for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. After the Germany competition, he will join the Indian team’s training camp in Spala, Poland and then represent India in the Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow.
