What did FSUI say?
According to FSUI, Nishant’s health had deteriorated and he could not get medical help on time. The union alleges that if timely treatment or medical evacuation had been arranged, perhaps his life could have been saved. The most emotional thing is that even after his death, his body remained on the ship for several days. The union claimed that due to lack of proper refrigeration facilities, crew members had to try to preserve the body with water bottles. This situation was not only painful, but was also mentally very difficult for the other employees present on the ship.
FSUI has shared a video on social media, in which the captain of MT Celestial is allegedly seen showing this situation and appealing to the Indian authorities for help. The union alleges that the ship owner did not fulfill his responsibilities and left the crew in difficult conditions. The union met the Indian Embassy Muscat, the Ministry of External Affairs and External Affairs Minister S. Tagging many officials including Jaishankar, they have demanded to bring Nishant’s mortal remains to India soon and provide assistance to the crew.
