India’s 10 Best Selling MPVs Ranked: Maruti, Toyota Dominate

India’s top 10 MPVs together accounted for 42,654 units in August 2026, up 7 percent from 39,873 units a year earlier. The market was heavily concentrated at the top, with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga alone contributing 18,516 units and 43.4 percent of the top-10 volume.

Maruti Suzuki and Toyota were the two strongest manufacturers in this list. Maruti’s Ertiga, XL6 and Invicto together added 22,069 units, or 51.7 percent of the total. Toyota’s Innova family, Rumion and Vellfire contributed 11,438 units, giving it a 26.8 percent share.

No.1 was the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with 18,516 units. That was almost unchanged from 18,445 units in August 2025, but the important number is its share. More than four out of every ten MPVs in this top-10 set were Ertigas.

Toyota’s Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross combined for 8,963 units in second place. Volumes were down 3.7 percent from 9,304 units a year earlier, but the Innova family still held a 21 percent share.

Kia’s Carens and Carens Clavis were third with a combined 6,093 units. That was down 10.7 percent year on year from 6,822 units. Even after the decline, the Kia pair accounted for 14.3 percent of the top-10 MPV volume.

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 ranked fourth with 3,293 units, up 10.8 percent from 2,973 units last August. The six-seat MPV added another 7.7 percent share for Maruti and remains the more premium alternative to the Ertiga within the same showroom network.

Toyota Rumion was fifth with 2,396 units. Its year-ago base was only 68 units, so the 3,423 percent growth figure looks extreme, but the more relevant point is that the Rumion has now reached meaningful monthly volume and taken a 5.6 percent share.

Renault Triber placed sixth with 1,536 units, down 17.9 percent from 1,870 units. The newly introduced Nissan Gravite followed very closely in seventh with 1,440 units. Just 96 units separated the two.

The final three positions show how quickly MPV volumes fall once the mainstream models are out of the picture. Maruti Suzuki’s Invicto was eighth with 260 units, up 9.7 percent year on year.

Toyota Vellfire ranked ninth with 79 units, down from 104 units last August. Kia Carnival completed the top 10 with 78 units, up from 50 units a year ago.

Together, the Invicto, Vellfire and Carnival contributed only 417 units. By contrast, the top five models alone generated 39,261 units, or roughly 92 percent of the entire top-10 tally.

That concentration explains why the Ertiga and Innova remain so important. Maruti leads on outright volume through affordable three-row products, while Toyota combines a large Innova business with smaller Rumion and Vellfire volumes. Kia remains a clear third through the Carens family, but August also shows how difficult it is for lower-volume premium MPVs to move the overall ranking.

These figures are manufacturer dispatches rather than retail registrations, so they measure vehicles sent into the market during August rather than final customer registrations. Even with that qualification, the ranking gives a clear picture of where MPV demand is concentrated.
