Rishikesh, a magical canvas of mountains, rivers and spirituality, has added a new thrill. India’s first glass hanging ‘Bajrang Setu’ stands tall over the Ganges River, which flows in awe of the old Laxman Jhula. This new hanging skywalk is now the main attraction for tourists.
This 132-meter-long suspension bridge has been built right next to the old Laxman Jhula. Laxman Jhula was closed in 2019 due to safety reasons. This Bajrang Bridge has been built as an alternative to it. The main pillars of this bridge have been made in the style of the Kedarnath temple. On the one hand, modern technology, on the other hand, traditional religious architecture – this bridge has been built in a strange combination of the two.
One of the main attractions of the bridge is its glass skywalk. This long path is made of strong and durable multi-layered glass. While walking, you can see the turbulent waters of the Ganges right below your feet. It is like floating on the river. However, along with the thrill, special attention has been paid to the safety aspect. Trained staff are keeping the entire bridge area under constant surveillance.
Where to find this bridge?
It is located in the area adjacent to Tapovan and Laxman Jhula in Rishikesh. The bridge connects Dehradun and Pauri Garhwal districts across the river. The historic Ram Jhula, Paramarth Niketan or all the famous cafes and ashrams are located very close to this bridge.
Tickets and Timings
There is an entrance fee to climb the glass skywalk of the bridge. The ticket price for adults is 100 taka and for children it is 50 taka. It will be open to tourists from 6 am to 10 pm every day. However, be sure to check in advance if there have been any changes in the schedule before you leave.
