New Delhi: Ongoing violence in Pakistan occupied Kashmir and "election" India has given a strong reaction regarding this. The Foreign Ministry on Tuesday called it a calculated move by Pakistan.
MEA: "These are sham elections"
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a regular briefing that the so-called assembly elections held in PoK are just a sham. According to him, "Through this election drama, Pakistan wants to hide its illegal occupation. It also wants to cover up the serious violations of human rights taking place there."
Jaiswal made it clear that India’s stand is the same as before. He said, "The entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, including the areas currently under illegal occupation of Pakistan, is an integral and inalienable part of India."
Anger flares up in PoK, 19 people died in Rawalakot
Meanwhile, protests have intensified in PoK. At least 19 people are reported killed in police firing in Rawalakot on Monday evening. About two dozen people are said to be injured.
This information was given by the people involved in ‘Awami Hukou Long March’. Joint Awami Action Committee JAAC leader Imtiaz Aslam released a video. He told that the protesters were going from Chinar Chowk towards D-Chowk. He stayed at Maqbool Bhatt Shaheed Chowk at night.
Aslam said, "Pakistan forces opened fire on our innocent youth. In this, 14 of our youth were martyred. The martyrs also include Usman Nazir, younger brother of the movement’s founder Omar Nazir Kashmiri."
Reason for protest: Inflation and violation of rights
MEA said that the large-scale protests taking place in PoK are due to economic exploitation and deprivation of basic rights. Jaiswal said, "The people there are on the streets for inflation, bad administration and their rights. Pakistan is trying to cover up this truth in the name of elections."
India’s stand is clear
India reiterated that it does not recognize any political activity taking place in PoK. The government says that the situation there has deteriorated directly because of Pakistan’s policies. There is tension in the entire area after the Rawalkot incident. Internet services are disrupted and security has been increased.
