IndiGo increased fuel surcharge, air travel becomes expensive from today… Know the new charge from Delhi-Mumbai to Bengaluru

New Delhi: The cost of travel for air travelers has increased from 6 October 2026. IndiGo, one of the country's leading airline companies, has increased the fuel surcharge on domestic and international flights due to the rising prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). This will have a direct impact on the total ticket price of passengers.

According to Indigo, the new fuel surcharge has come into effect from 12:01 am on 6 October 2026. For domestic flights, the surcharge has been increased from ₹100 to ₹350, depending on the distance. This means that now while booking tickets, apart from the base fare, passengers will have to pay more fuel surcharge than before.

However, the final price increase of a ticket may vary depending on the route concerned, date of travel, seats available and other charges.

Fuel surcharge will be as per distance.

The new fuel surcharge rates for IndiGo domestic flights based on distance are as follows:

flight distance new fuel surcharge
up to 500 km 375
501-1,000 km 600
1,001-1,500 km 900

Don't just look at the base fare while booking tickets

If you are planning to fly with IndiGo in the coming days, then while booking the ticket, do not decide only by looking at the base fare. It would be better to compare the final price after adding fuel surcharge, taxes and other charges.

Fuel surcharge increased on international flights also

Indigo has also increased the fuel surcharge on domestic flights as well as international flights. The airline has taken this decision in view of the impact of the increasing cost of Aviation Turbine Fuel i.e. ATF.
