Harsh Goenka criticizes Pant

Following reports of Rishabh Pant’s pay cut, famous businessman Harsh Goenka has taken a jibe at the cricketer. In a post on his social media platform, he compared Rishabh’s salary cut to corporate culture. In his post, he called IPL auction worse than corporate culture.

What’s in the tweet?

Harsh Goenka put up a post on his official Twitter account ‘X’, in which he wrote, “Rishabh Pant: ₹27 crore – ₹15 crore. Imagine you are telling the CEO of a company, ‘Last year you got ₹27 crore, but this year based on your performance and market demand, your salary is being reduced to ₹15 crore.’ It is hard to even imagine such a thing in the corporate world.”

He further wrote, “But in IPL players are priced through auctions and their current value is based on that. So luckily, most of us work in the corporate world.” Goenka’s post has received mixed reactions from social media users. Some are criticizing Harsh Goenka, while others are supporting him in making fun of Pant.

15 crore salary from 27 crore

It is worth noting that Rishabh Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. This was the highest amount in league history. Not only this, he was also the captain of the team. However, this amount has been reduced due to his poor performance as captain. Now Rishabh Pant will play for Delhi Capitals again, for which he is being paid Rs 12 crore, which is less than half of his previous salary.
