Interim Relief For Karishma Kapoor’s Children In Sunjay Kapur Property Case, Here’s How
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday ordered the freezing of bank accounts and key assets linked to late businessman Sunjay Kapur, in what has been seen as a major interim relief for the children of actor Karisma Kapoor amid an ongoing inheritance dispute.
The court directed that Kapur’s bank accounts, including certain overseas holdings and cryptocurrency assets, remain non-operational for the time being, reported India Today. It said the estate must be preserved during the pendency of the trial.
The court said Sunjay Kapyr’s assets “need to be preserved… should not be dissipated”, according to NDTV. The court granted an interim injunction restraining Priya Kapur from selling those.
The order comes in the backdrop of a high-stakes legal battle over Kapur’s estimated Rs 30,000 crore estate, following his death in London in June 2025. His children, Samaira and Kiaan, from his marriage with Karisma Kapoor, have challenged the handling of the estate by his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur.
In their plea, the children alleged irregularities in the disclosure of assets and claimed that a will attributed to Kapur was forged. They also contended that the asset list submitted before the court was incomplete, allegedly omitting several valuable possessions.
Taking note of these concerns, the High Court granted an interim injunction restraining the sale or transfer of assets. The bench observed that protecting the estate at this stage was necessary, as the legal proceedings could take time and the rights of all parties must be safeguarded.
