New Delhi : International Yoga Day Today will be celebrated in 2500 places around the world. This is the 12th International Day of Yoga and its theme is ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’. The day highlights the importance of yoga for people of all ages. The main national event of the country is being held on the historic Red Road of Kolkata under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Modi is present at this place.
Prime Minister Modi will be doing yoga along with around 35000 people on Red Road. West Bengal is hosting the main national event of International Yoga Day for the first time, with grand events being held in Kolkata and on the banks of the Hooghly River. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead a mass yoga practice with around 35,000 people at the national event on the Red Road in Kolkata. Security and administrative preparations for the event have been going on for several days. Special arrangements have been made throughout the area keeping in mind the possibility of a large number of people participating.
Thousands of people will be practicing yoga on more than 500 boats in Hooghly river. Kolkata will celebrate a unique Yoga Day on the Hooghly River. Through the joint efforts of the state government and the Ministry of AYUSH, thousands of participants will be simultaneously practicing yoga and pranayama on more than 500 boats. Extensive security arrangements have been made for this special event in the river. Police, Disaster Management Team and Health Department teams will be on full alert.
The concept of Yoga Day is ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’
This year the theme of International Yoga Day is Yoga for Healthy Ageing. According to Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav, India is one of the youngest countries in the world today, but the number of elderly people will increase rapidly in the coming decades. Hence, this concept has been chosen to make yoga the foundation of a healthy and active life.
Organizing yoga programs at 2500 locations worldwide
Union Ministry of Culture is organizing special yoga programs at 100 places across the country to bring India’s cultural heritage and yoga tradition to the world. Through the coordinated efforts of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Indian embassies abroad, Yoga Day events will be held at approximately 2,500 locations across the globe. More than 210 Indian embassies will participate in these events.
