GT reached fifth place
Rabada had spoiled the start of CSK’s innings by taking the wickets of Sanju Samson (11) and Urvil Patel (4) in the fourth over. After this, Mohammad Siraj gave the third blow to CSK in the next over in the form of Sarfaraz Khan (0). Due to these shocks, CSK’s innings faltered and it could not reach a big total. Rabada took 3 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs. Siraj gave 23 runs in 4 overs. There was one success in his account.
Chasing a relatively small target, GT got a great start from the pair of Sudarshan and captain Shubman Gill. Both made GT’s run chase easy by making a partnership of 58 runs in 6.3 overs. Gill was stumped off the bowling of Noor Ahmed after scoring 33 runs in 23 balls. After his departure, Sudarshan along with Jos Buttler took GT to the threshold of victory.
Sudarshan was out after scoring 87 runs in 46 balls when GT needed only 4 runs to win. After this, Butler finished the match with a six and gave GT its first win against CSK in Chepauk. He scored unbeaten 39 runs in 30 balls. With this win, GT has reached fifth position in the points table, while CSK has now moved to sixth position.
