79 country made bombs found in Bengal before elections, now investigation handed over to NIA

A huge quantity of crude bombs were recovered before the second phase of voting in West Bengal. The person from whose house these 79 country-made bombs were recovered in South 24 Parganas district is said to be a Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker. Now the Union Home Ministry has handed over the investigation of this case to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). In a statement issued late on Sunday night, an NIA spokesperson said that in compliance with the order of the Home Ministry, a case has been registered which was originally registered on Saturday at North Kashi police station in Bhangarh division of Kolkata and investigation has been started.

 

NIA spokesperson has said, ‘This case pertains to 79 country-made bombs and other objectionable materials recovered by Kolkata Police, which were kept hidden at one place and were posing a threat to human life and property.’ Earlier in the day, the Election Commission had directed West Bengal Police to launch a special operation to arrest people involved in illegal manufacturing of country-made bombs, an official said.

This incident happened on 25 April. This investigation has been handed over to NIA because there is a possibility of a terrorist angle in it. According to the report, these bombs were found in an abandoned house in Majherhat village of Kashipur police station area of ​​South 24 Parganas district.

The accused is a TMC worker!

An official said that the Commission has directed that the NIA will investigate the cases related to the manufacture of any such explosives. The Election Commission’s direction came after police recovered a large number of crude bombs from the house of a person in Bhangarh in South 24 Parganas district, who is an alleged worker of the ruling TMC in Bengal. The incident occurred days before the second and final phase of assembly elections in the state. The official said that based on specific information, explosives were recovered during a search at the residence of Rafiqul Islam.

Let us tell you that today is the last day of campaigning for the assembly elections in West Bengal. Voting for the state’s 294-member assembly is being conducted in two phases. In the first phase, voting for 152 seats has been held on April 23, while in the second phase, voting for 142 seats is to be held on April 29.
