IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals roar to a 3-wicket win over Punjab Kings

Delhi Capitals returned to winning ways, beating the Punjab Kings by 3 wickets in the Indian Premier League 2026. Chasing 212 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, the Capitals completed the task in 19 overs, with Madhav Tiwari (18 off 8) and Auqib Nabi (10 off 2) remaining not out.

DC were on the back foot from the start, with Abhishek Porel (5) and KL Rahul (9) unable to get going. When Sahil Parakh was dismissed after posting 13, Delhi were 33 for 3 in 4.3 overs.

Tristan Stubbs, who was once again trusted, managed just 12 runs off 17 balls.

Captain Axar Patel joined hands with David Miller, and the two added  64 runs for the third wicket. However, the departure of Axar impacted his team’s chances. He scored 52 runs off 28 balls, laced with 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Miller amassed 51 runs in 28 deliveries, including 3 fours and 4 sixes. Delhi didn’t give up, and Ashutosh Sharma took the team close to a victory. He scored 24 runs in 10 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Tiwari and Nabi handled the pressure pretty well in the end. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers, picking up two wickets and conceding just 21 runs from four overs. Yash Thakur claimed two scalps as well.

Marcus Stoinis and Ben Dwarshuis took one wicket each.

Earlier, PBKS reached 210 for 5 after losing the toss. Priyansh Arya was magnificent with the bat, accumulating 56 runs off 33 deliveries, with the help of 6 sixes and 2 fours. Prabhsimran Singh added 15-ball 18 to the total.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 59 runs in 36 balls, packed with 5 boundaries and 3 maximums.

Cooper Connolly, who scored a hundred in the previous game, faced 27 balls for his 38 runs. He struck 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Marcus Stoinis (1) and Shashank Singh (0) failed with the willow, but Suryansh Shedge’s cameo provided much-needed respectability to the total. He smashed 2 fours and 2 sixes in his knock of 21 in 8 balls.

Mitchell Starc and Madhav Tiwari claimed two scalps each, while Mukesh Kumar added one wicket to his bowling figures in the PBKS vs DC match.

Punjab Kings have 13 points from 11 contests, while Delhi Capitals are still in contention for the playoff race in the IPL 2026.

From 12 games, they have 10 points, having won 5 and lost 7.
