IPL 2026 Final Venue: Hosting may be snatched from Bengaluru, will a big political dispute change the whole game?

New Delhi. A major update has come out regarding the hosting of the final match of IPL 2026. There is a possibility of defending champion Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) losing the hosting of the final match from the home ground M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. According to BCCI sources, this time the situation regarding the venue of the playoffs and the final is not clear and an official announcement will be made soon.

In accordance with BCCI tradition, the city of the defending champion team gets to host the final. In such a situation, Bengaluru could have got this right due to RCB being the champion, but now there is doubt on it.

According to sources, a plan to distribute the IPL 2026 playoff matches between Punjab and Karnataka is under consideration. But the situation in Bengaluru is said to be complicated due to some administrative and political issues, due to which the final can be shifted to some other city.

A BCCI source was quoted as saying, “The schedule of the playoffs and the final will be announced soon, but the situation in Bengaluru is being affected due to issues related to tickets and VIP quota. If a solution is not found, the final can be held at another place.”

Actually, recently a controversy had come to light regarding IPL ticket allotment in Karnataka. Statements were given by some leaders regarding the demand for tickets in MLA quota and VIP protocol. On this, different reactions were seen from the state government also, due to which the controversy increased further.

  • However, the state Home Minister had clarified that tickets are available through online process and they are not misused. But despite this, questions raised at the administrative level have increased the uncertainty regarding hosting. Now all eyes are on the official decision of BCCI whether the final of IPL 2026 will be held in Bengaluru or this big match will be assigned to some other city.
