IPL 2026 points table: Big upset in playoff race, MI and LSG out, RCB on top
Delhi: The picture of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 playoffs is not completely clear yet, but the journey of the two teams has now officially ended. After the double header matches played on Sunday, May 10, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) were out of the tournament. Both the teams had to face defeat in important matches, due to which their playoff hopes were dashed.

Chennai’s victory changed the equation of points table
In the first match of the day, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) performed brilliantly and defeated Lucknow Super Giants at their home ground Chepauk. The match was very exciting and high scoring, where Chennai achieved the big target of 204 runs in the last over.
With this win, Chennai registered its sixth success in the season and made a big jump in the points table. The team has now moved from sixth position to fifth position. Chennai, captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad, now has 12 points.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) also have the same number of points, but Chennai left them behind due to better net run rate (NRR). Chennai’s net run rate has become 0.185, while Rajasthan’s net run rate is 0.082.
Farewell from the tournament with Lucknow’s defeat
The defeat against Chennai proved to be very heavy for Lucknow Super Giants. After this defeat, all the chances of the team reaching the playoffs ended and it became the second team to be eliminated from this season.
Mumbai Indians’ campaign also ended
Sunday’s second match was played in Raipur, where Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Mumbai Indians in a thrilling match. Batting first, Mumbai team could score only 166 runs.
Although the target was not big, Bengaluru had to struggle a lot to achieve it. The match reached the last over and in the end Bengaluru won by 2 wickets.
With this defeat, the journey of five-time champion Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026 ended. The second consecutive defeat completely put an end to the team’s playoff hopes.
Bengaluru reached number-1
Current champion Royal Challengers Bangalore has made a strong comeback with this victory. This was the team’s seventh win in 11 matches and now it has 14 points.
On the basis of better net run rate, Bengaluru has secured the first position in the points table, leaving behind Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans (GT). The points of all three teams are equal, but the net run rate put Bengaluru on top.
