Virat Kohli dismissed for his second consecutive duck in IPL 2026
Virat Kohli was dismissed for his second consecutive duck in the Indian Premier League. The veteran faced just one ball in the RCB vs MI match on May 10. He hit Deepak Chahar’s pitched-up delivery straight to Raj Bawa, who made no mistake in the mid-on region. The star batter was dejected and looked frustrated while returning to the dressing room. Mumbai Indians players celebrated wildly, considering his track record in the history of the tournament.
Chasing 167 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, the defending champions were pushed on the back foot when they lost two wickets for 24 runs, with Devdutt Padikkal managing 12 runs. He became Chahar’s second scalp of the day.
In the previous game against the Lucknow Super Giants, he was clean bowled by Prince Yadav on the second ball of the second over. The ball nipped back, and the 37-year-old was unable to cover the line, returning to the dugout after posting a duck. Kohli, who was leading the batting charts at one stage in IPL 2026, has fallen way behind and is in the 10th spot at the moment.
He has amassed 379 runs in 11 innings at an average of 42.11 and a strike rate of 163.36, including three fifties. His failures have impacted RCB as they have lost three out of their last five matches in the ongoing edition of the league. They have dropped down to 4th spot, having accumulated 12 points from 12 games. They will have to win their remaining four fixtures to qualify for the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Kohli is the first batter in IPL history to touch the 9000-run mark.
In 278 games, he has amassed 9040 runs at an average of 39.64 and a strike rate of 133.90. He has struck 8 hundreds and 66 fifties.
