IPL 2026: SRH Crush PBKS with a 235-Run Blast; Klaasen’s Storm Turns Match One-Sided

In the 49th match of IPL 2026, played in Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered a spectacular victory by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 33 runs.

Batting first, SRH posted a massive total of 235/4 in their allotted 20 overs; In pursuit of this target, PBKS could only manage to reach 202/7.

Klaasen and Kishan Steal the Show

SRH got off to a blistering start. Abhishek Sharma provided the team with an aggressive opening, smashing 35 runs off just 13 balls. Travis Head then maintained this momentum, keeping the scoring rate high.

However, the true turning point of the match arrived when Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan settled in at the crease.

Kishan scored 55 runs off 32 balls, while Klaasen played a powerful innings of 69 runs off 43 deliveries.

Together, the duo completely dismantled the line and length of the PBKS bowlers.

In the final overs, Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed a quickfire 29 runs off 13 balls, propelling the total score to 235.

For PBKS, Chahal and Ferguson claimed one wicket each, but the rest of the bowlers proved to be quite expensive.

Connolly’s Century Goes in Vain

Chasing a daunting target of 235 runs, PBKS endured a disastrous start. The team lost two wickets for a mere 4 runs, mounting the pressure right from the very beginning of the innings.

Nevertheless, Cooper Connolly put up a magnificent fight. He played an unbeaten innings of 107 runs off 59 balls, featuring 7 fours and 8 sixes.

Apart from him, Marcus Stoinis (28) and Suryansh Shedge (25) offered some support, but the remaining batsmen failed to make an impact. In the SRH bowling attack, Pat Cummins struck early by taking two wickets.

Shivang Kumar also claimed two wickets, maintaining a firm grip on the match during the middle overs.

The PBKS team could only reach a total of 202/7 in their 20 overs and ended up losing the match by 33 runs.

After this match, SRH’s net run rate and position in the points table have strengthened, while PBKS will have to perform better in the coming matches to stay in the playoff race.
