The excitement of IPL 2026 has now reached its final stage. Tomorrow i.e. on 26th May 2026, the first qualifier will be played between Gujarat and RCB. This big match will be organized on the grounds of Dharamshala. The toss in the match will take place at 7 pm Indian time, while the first ball will be bowled at 7.30 pm. The biggest concern among the fans is that what will happen if this match gets washed out due to rain?
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to be golden in Dharamshala during the match and there is little chance of rain. Although there is no guarantee as to when the weather will change, it is difficult to predict weather patterns. Now the question arises that if it rains in the match, which of the two teams will benefit and which team will reach the final. Let us know.
What do the rules say?
Complete information regarding this is given in the playing-11 conditions of IPL. If the Final, Eliminator, Qualifier 1 or Qualifier 2 match is tied or washed out, a Super Over will be played to decide the winner. If the result still does not come, the second and third super over will be played. But if it is not possible to conduct a super over due to rain, bad weather or any other reason, then the points table of the league stage will take the biggest decision.
If the match could not take place
In such a condition, the team topping the points table will play the final match. That means, if the match is completely washed out due to rain, then Royal Challengers Bangalore will reach the final because it had secured the first position in the points table. Whereas in such a situation Gujarat Titans will have to play Qualifier-2.
