Iran Unrest: Amidst the ongoing conflict with America, internal strife has also started in Iran. After the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, tension in the country has increased so much that fear of a coup is being raised. Radical groups are so angry about the ceasefire with America that they have openly turned against President Massoud Pezeshkian and top diplomats. The President has even received a public threat of ‘throat slitting’ in a religious gathering.

According to a CNN report, during the funeral of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran, the atmosphere was not of mourning, but full of violence and political anger.

Thousands of protesters and radicals dressed in black paid tribute to the late leader and also targeted President Massoud Pezeshkian, who was present. The crowd raised slogans right in front of the President demanding death of those who compromise. At the center of this controversy is a theory which is spreading rapidly among the fundamentalist groups of Iran. After the death of Ali Khamenei, his son Mojtaba Khamenei was elected the new Supreme Leader. However, Mojtav has been completely missing from public life for a long time.

Fear among people regarding Supreme Leader

Mojtaba is neither addressing the nation nor is seen anywhere in public. In such a situation, some people believe that they fear for their lives, while some believe that they have become physically disabled. Amidst this mysterious absence, radicals allege that the leaders who are currently visible to the world – like President Pezeshkian, chief negotiator Mohammad Bagheri Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi – are secretly plotting a coup within the country.

The President is receiving death threats

This internal conflict within Iran has become so violent that the President is receiving death threats. Mohammad Ali Bakhshi, a religious leader close to the regime, gave a blunt warning to President Pezeshkian during a ceremony, saying that Mr. President, if the conditions of the supreme leader are not met, then remember that we will have blades in our hands and you will be strangled. We will make your life hell.
