Iran opened airspace after 50 days, flights started in eastern part

Iran has decided to partially open its airspace amid the recent tense situation. According to the country’s Civil Aviation Authority, international flights passing over eastern Iran are now allowed on a limited basis. Along with this, some selected airports have been restarted for operations from 7 am.

However, even a few hours after the launch, it was clearly visible on the flight tracking platform that most of the international aircraft were still maintaining distance from Iranian airspace. Due to security concerns, many airlines are preferring to adopt alternative and longer routes.

signs of resumption of movement

Iran has indicated that in the coming time, flight movement will be restored at other airports of the country in a phased manner. On the other hand, Britain has appealed to restore normal maritime traffic in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper said that despite the implementation of the ceasefire, the situation on this important route has not yet become completely normal. He stressed that uninterrupted movement of ships through this route is extremely essential for global trade and economy.

On the other hand, Iran has clarified that the Strait of Hormuz has not been completely opened. According to the Defense Ministry spokesperson, at present this route is open only during the ceasefire period and under certain special conditions. Military ships and those ships which are believed to belong to enemy countries are not being allowed. He also warned that if pressure increases on the Iran-backed organization Hezbollah in Lebanon, these arrangements could be changed.

Ban on internet services continues

Meanwhile, the ban on internet services within the country also continues. According to internet monitoring organization NetBlocks, it has been almost 50 days since the digital blackout in Iran, due to which people are cut off from the global internet. The impact of this long ban is clearly visible on normal life, business and communication system.

Security agencies have also intensified their activities. Iranian Revolutionary Guards have informed that 127 people have been arrested in three provinces due to security reasons. They have been accused of being involved in activities related to violence and supporting the enemy.
