Iran President Pakistan Visit: Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian received doctorate degree, program held at Pakistan’s PM House

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on 23 June 2026 on a one-day official visit. During this visit, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Cardiac Surgery by the ‘College of Physicians and Surgeons’ of Pakistan. He received this honor in an official program organized at the Prime Minister’s residence.

President Pezeshkian is a heart surgeon by profession and has vast experience in the medical field. He also served as the Minister of Health and Medical Education of Iran from 2001 to 2005. He became the ninth President of Iran on 28 July 2024.

Main events and meetings of the tour

On reaching Islamabad, he was given a guard of honor at the Prime Minister’s residence. During his short visit he met many important leaders:

  • He met Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.
  • Discussed separately with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
  • Talks were also held with Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy PM cum Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

Main purpose of travel

The purpose of this visit was to review the old agreements between the two countries and further enhance economic relations. Along with this, President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its efforts to mediate between the US and Iran. Regional and international issues were also discussed in detail during the meeting.
