Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi to visit India, to attend BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting

West Asia crisis will be discussed in the meeting

New Delhi. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi began a three-day official visit to India on Wednesday. This is the first high-level diplomatic visit from Tehran since the US-Israeli Iran conflict began.

Araghchi is in India primarily to attend the two-day meeting of foreign ministers of BRICS member countries starting on Thursday. Iran’s Foreign Minister along with his Indian counterpart S. Will hold comprehensive bilateral talks with Jaishankar focused on the growing crisis in West Asia. According to sources, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is also likely to be discussed. During this time, the Indian side can insist on the safe movement of remaining merchant ships through the strategic waterway. Araghchi and other foreign ministers of BRICS member countries will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on ‘X’, a warm welcome to Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on his arrival in New Delhi for the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting. The growing crisis in West Asia and its impact on the global energy supply chain is likely to be a major topic of discussion at the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting. India, which chairs BRICS, is hosting the meeting ahead of the annual summit in September.
