Iranian official claims – Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is alive, ‘completely healthy’
Tehran. Mohsen Komei, head of the International Affairs Office of Iran’s ‘Assembly of Experts’ leadership body, has confirmed that Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who was injured in the February 28 attack, is now completely healthy and performing his duties.
Since Mojtaba Khamenei has not been directly seen or heard from since he was declared his father’s successor, US officials have claimed that he was badly injured in the attack and that his face may have been disfigured and that his injuries have left him with little say in decision-making.
In a video released by Iran’s Fars news agency, Qomi said, “At that time he was present in the same building which was bombed and in which the people inside were martyred. Just a few minutes earlier, by chance or by the will of God, he had gone into the courtyard of the building and God willed that he survived. I assure you that despite the injuries he suffered, Almighty God protected him.”
He described the US claims about Mojtaba’s condition as part of a deliberate move to create uncertainty within Iran and put pressure on the regime through misinformation and fabricated claims. He said, “This is a ploy of the enemy through which they are trying to convey. Why is he not coming forward? Why is he not sending any audio message? Why is he not sending any video message? Why are the people who have met him not coming forward and giving information about this? They want to force us to respond through these ‘why’ so that they can continue to carry forward their plans.”
Comey added, “He is in good health and is handling the work. He is monitoring both the negotiations and matters on the ground under his supervision, and recently he has also given some instructions to the negotiating team on what they should do in certain circumstances. He has full monitoring of all these issues.” His claim, however, did not present any new evidence to support his claim that the country was actually led by Khamenei, and not any other official or the IRGC, as had been previously indicated.
Although it has been confirmed that Mojtaba Khamenei is alive, since he was declared supreme leader, all statements issued in his name have come only in written form; He himself has not yet given any official statement on television.
