According to Iranian sources, Iranian President Massoud Pezheshkian will visit India. According to reports, Masood Pezeshkian will travel to New Delhi to attend the upcoming BRICS Summit. Pezeshkian is scheduled to participate in the summit in New Delhi in September. The visit is also important as India is hosting the 18th BRICS Summit under its chairmanship in 2026. The summit will be held on the theme of India’s “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Building for Sustainability”. India will take over the BRICS presidency from Brazil in early 2026.
Earlier, Pezheshkian met PM Modi during the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia in October 2024, where the two leaders discussed bilateral and regional issues. Iran became a full member of BRICS in 2024, along with Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates. Indonesia joined the group in 2025, bringing the total number of full members to 11.
Earlier in June, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also visited India to attend the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Addressing a press conference in the capital after the meeting, Araghchi emphasized New Delhi’s growing influence as a peacemaker in the world and said India could play a “huge role” in calming the tense situation in West Asia. Araghchi clarified that Tehran sees no future in armed conflict. Araghchi said there is no military solution to the current crisis and a “negotiated solution” is the only viable way.
Expressing Tehran’s positive attitude towards Indian mediation, Araghchi said, “We will welcome any constructive role from India.” Araghchi Foreign Minister S.
