Iran’s goal canceled… missed reaching the knockout, team raised questions on ‘fair play’
Iran’s hopes of reaching the knockouts of the FIFA World Cup 2026 have suffered a huge blow. The team played its last group match with a 1-1 draw against Egypt. Due to this he could not qualify for the round of 32. It finished third in Group G. Now it will have to depend on the results of other teams to go to the next round.
Egypt entered the World Cup knockouts for the first time after this dramatic draw in Seattle. Iran created more chances to score goals. This included a potential winning goal but it was ruled out for offside. If this goal had been valid, Iran would have secured its place in the knockout round. After the match, the Iranian team left a note in the Seattle locker room, in which fair play was mentioned. The picture of that note has been shared by Tasneem News Agency.

‘Respect is important, not victory…’
The Iranian team wrote in that note, ‘We come from Iran… a land that has given more importance to honor than victory for thousands of years. For us football is not just a competition for results; This is a test of character. Perhaps points can be won in many ways but not respect. Perhaps a team can advance from the group but only through fairness and respect can one stand proudly before history.
The note further reads, ‘Fair play is not just a line in the rules of football, it is the soul of the game. Thank you Seattle for your hospitality and thank you to all the Iranians who have given their hearts, their voices and everything they have for Iran. Iran will always stand proudly with its chest raised.
