New website of IRCTC, what’s new?
Apart from providing raw speed to the passengers in the new website of IRCTC, the redesign also has some other great features for the daily commuters.
Seat choice at the time of booking: Passengers will be able to tell which seat they want, rather than being given a seat at random.
A rental calendar: Users can compare ticket prices for different dates before confirming the booking, useful for those who have flexible travel plans and want to get the cheapest fares.
Same seat availability: Instead of toggling between sleeper, AC 3 tier, AC 2 tier and other classes one by one, the new site shows availability across all classes on a single screen, a small change that saves a lot of scrolling and thinking.
The website has been created for more users
The upgraded website will support multiple Indian languages, the aim is to make booking really easy even for the users who are fluent in English and Hindi. It will also bring together services for the disabled, students and patients, groups who currently rely on separate processes for concession booking, on one integrated platform.

Less pop-ups and less CAPTCHA
If there’s one change that frequent bookers should be happy with, it’s this: The new interface is designed to eliminate the redundant pop-ups, flashing banners and repeated CAPTCHA checks that currently bog down the booking flow. This problem is more common in times of rush, often at the worst possible times. The idea is simple – less distraction between search and confirmation means fewer bookings will be missed.
