IRCTC Next-Gen Website: If you have ever booked a train ticket online, you must have faced slow loading speed, frequent annoying advertisement pop-ups, long captcha codes and a confusing booking process with multiple steps. Every second counts, especially during ‘Tatkal Ticket’ booking at 10 and 11 in the morning, where seats get filled at the slightest delay. To overcome this big problem of passengers, Indian Railways is now bringing a new, very modern and superfast version of IRCTC website.
Beta version of new website will be launched soon
The Railway Ministry is preparing to present the beta version of the new website of IRCTC to the general public very soon. The main objective of this upgrade is to double the speed of ticket booking and make the entire interface user-friendly. Before officially going live for common passengers, the new website was successfully demonstrated to the students of Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur. During this, top officials of IRCTC and Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) also took feedback from the youth, so that the shortcomings could be rectified in advance.
There will be direct integration with Passenger Reservation System (PRS)
The biggest strength of this new website will be its backend system. It is being directly linked to the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) of Indian Railways, which is the main core system for railway ticket management across the country. Once this direct integration with PRS is completed, technical disruptions like server down time or payment failure will be virtually eliminated and passengers will get a very smooth booking experience without any buffering.
These 5 big changes will be seen in the new website of IRCTC
Freedom from unnecessary ads and pop-ups: The homepage of the new website will be very clean and simple. To speed up ticketing, unnecessary pop-up advertisements, heavy flashy graphics and recurring irritating Captchas will be removed, saving precious seconds for passengers during instant booking.
Seats of all classes will be visible together: Currently, passengers have to click on each class separately to see the availability of Sleeper, Third AC (3AC) or Second AC (2AC). But in the new website, the seat availability of all available classes will be visible together on a single screen, which will make comparison easier.
Less Screen and Minimal Clicks: Now passengers will not have to go through many screens and forms to book tickets. According to reports, the entire booking has been condensed into ‘minimum clicks’, due to which the ticket will be generated in a few seconds.
Option to save family details: For passengers who frequently book tickets for their family or friends, the master list feature has been further advanced. Passengers will be able to permanently save the information of their family members (name, age, birth preference) in advance, so that time is not wasted in re-typing at the time of booking.
Preparation to present in July: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has already made this big announcement that the new modern IRCTC website will be presented to the country in the month of July itself. Currently its beta trial is in the final stages and in the next few months it will be completely rolled out for everyone.
