Team India eliminated in England! Lost T20 series 0-4, lost the number 1 position too

New Delhi: In the last T20 played on Saturday, July 11 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton, England defeated India by 56 runs and won the series 4-0. In front of a mountain like target of 258 runs, Team India could score only 201 runs for 8 wickets. This is the first time that India has lost 4 matches in a T20 series.

England snatched the crown of number-1

With this defeat, India slipped from the top of the ICC T20 rankings. Now England has become the new number-1 team. The series began with a rain-washed match at Chester-le-Street. After this, England won by 4 wickets in Manchester. A one-sided win of 125 runs in Nottingham, a win by 9 wickets in Bristol and now even in Southampton, Shreyas Iyer’s team could not stand in front of England.

India’s batting failed again

The goal was big, but the beginning itself was bad. Abhishek Sharma became the victim of Joffra Archer after scoring just 3 runs. Sanju Samson played an inning of 27 runs, but Sam Curran dismissed him on the very first ball. Then the score was 55/2.

From here Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan added 55 runs. Shreyas got caught in the spin of Liam Dawson after scoring 28 runs. Ishan Kishan scored 56 runs in 35 balls, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes. But Adil Rashid almost eliminated India from the match by dismissing him.

Tilak Verma played a quick inning of 53 runs in 25 balls, hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes. But the rest of the batsmen failed. Shivam Dubey could score 14, Suryansh Shedge 7 and Akshar Patel could score only 3 runs. Sam Curran took 3 wickets for England, Adil Rashid got 2 wickets.

Butler-Brooke’s stormy partnership

Batting first, England had a bad start. Phil Salt became the victim of Prasidh Krishna after scoring 6 runs. After this Jos Buttler and captain Harry Brook turned the match. Both added 233 runs in 102 balls for the second wicket. Butler completed his century in just 51 balls and scored 131 runs in 64 balls. This was the second century of his T20 career with 12 fours and 8 sixes.

He was dismissed by Shivam Dubey in the 19th over and sent Jacob Bethel to zero on the very next ball. Brook remained unbeaten on 95 runs. He hit 8 sixes and 4 fours. This partnership left the Indian bowlers helpless and put the score of 258 on the board. India had a very bad tour of England with a crushing 4-0 defeat. Team India was lagging behind in all three departments – batting, bowling and fielding.
