After its theatrical run,Indian actor Ravi Teja-starrer Irumudi was set to arrive on OTT, giving viewers another chance to watch the Telugu film from home.
The film was scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 18. Netflix India had shared the release details on Instagram and confirmed that the movie would be available in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
Irumudi featured Ravi Teja as Trinadh, an alcoholic father who decided to take up Ayyappa Deeksha for his daughter Manikanta, played by Nakshathra. As part of the religious practice, he had to give up his usual vices for the period of the Deeksha.
The story also followed Trinadh as he faced a difficult situation in his village. While he was expected to stay away from violence during the Deeksha, he had to protect girls in the village when trouble arose.
Vijay Deverakonda had also shared his reaction to the movie and praised the atmosphere created in Telugu cinemas.
“What a glorious atmosphere in the Telugu cinema halls @RaviTeja_offl anna and my darling @ShivaNirvana have created,” Deverakonda wrote.
He had also called Irumudi a “must watch” while praising the storytelling and message.
Child actor Nakshathra had also received appreciation for her performance. Dhanush had praised the young actor during a video call and told her, “Sometime when we meet, I want to learn acting from you.”
The OTT release had therefore brought Irumudi to a wider audience across multiple languages, with the film becoming available to stream on Netflix from September 18.
