Is AI secretly using personal data? How to keep your data safe in ChatGPT and Gemini
Tezzbuzz Desk- Artificial Intelligence (AI) based chatbots have become a part of the daily routine of millions of people today. Whether it’s writing emails, gathering information on a topic, planning a trip, or finding solutions to coding problems, platforms like ChatGPT and Google Gemini are becoming increasingly popular. But these features also come with a big question—are your personal conversations being used to train AI models?
Many users are unaware that some of the conversations they have with the chatbots they use can be used to improve services and train AI models. However, companies also provide users with options to limit their data usage.
How to stop data usage in ChatGPT?
If you use ChatGPT and don’t want your new conversations to be used to improve AI models, you can change your settings to do so.
First of all, log in to your ChatGPT account. After this, click on the profile icon and go to Settings. Here open the Data Controls section and turn off the “Improve the model for everyone” option. After you turn off this setting, your future chats will not be used for model training. If you want to delete previous conversations as well, you can go to the same section and choose the option to delete chat history.
How to manage privacy settings in Google Gemini
Users using Google Gemini will have to pay attention to some additional settings to limit data collection. First of all, change Google’s Web & App Activity settings. For this, go to My Activity page and open Web & App Activity option and turn it off. This can limit data related to new search activities and app usage.
Apart from this, Gemini Activity option can also be turned off by going to Gemini’s Activity Settings. If users wish, they can also delete old Gemini chats and activities from this section.
Why is it important to pay attention to data privacy?
While using AI chatbots, people often share personal information, office-related documents, financial information or even personal questions. In such a situation, it is important to understand what data can be saved and how its settings can be controlled.
Experts recommend that you understand the privacy policy and data control settings of any AI platform before sharing sensitive information. This not only protects your privacy, but you can also decide for what purpose your information is used.
Use AI, but be cautious
AI tools are helpful in making work easier and faster, but digital privacy should not be ignored. Platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini provide users with data control options, which can be used properly to keep their personal information more secure.
