Kharge refused to celebrate his birthday, said – ‘The mother of democracy does not behave like this with her children’

Opposition’s attack on the government intensified on NEET paper leak controversy, Congress President expressed displeasure over the action against students.

Meanwhile, Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has taken a big step in support of the students and decided not to celebrate his birthday.

Mallikarjun Kharge posted on social media platform He alleged that lathicharge and tear gas were used on students who were peacefully protesting for their demands, which is against democratic values.

Kharge wrote in his post that the country saw how an attempt was made to suppress a peaceful democratic demonstration. He said that instead of listening to the voices of the students demanding justice, force was used on them.

Mothers don’t do this to their children

He said, “The mother of democracy does not behave like this with her children. Under these sad circumstances, I have decided not to celebrate my birthday today.”

The Congress President also thanked the party leaders, workers and supporters who wished him on his birthday. He said that people’s love and affection means a lot to him, but in the current situation there is no time to celebrate.

Kharge said, “Today is not a day for celebration, but a day for accountability. Democracy needs to be restored.”

Demand for resignation of Education Minister

Kharge targeted Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and said that he should resign, taking moral and political responsibility in the paper leak case.

Demanding improvement in the examination system, he said that there should be such a system in the country in which the security of question papers is ensured and the future of the students is not played with. He also raised the demand for legal protection and appropriate compensation to the students affected by the examination irregularities.

Government said- Modi government stands with the students

Meanwhile, on behalf of the government, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear in the NDA parliamentary party meeting that the government is with the students.

Rijiju said that cases like NEET paper leak are a matter of national concern and strict action will be taken against those involved. He appealed to the opposition to give priority to the interests of the students instead of giving political color to the issue.

The monsoon session of Parliament has started and the conflict between the government and the opposition is likely to increase on many issues including the NEET controversy.
