Is ‘ Re:Zero’ returning for season 5? Everything we know so far

Re:Zero (Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World) has not been officially confirmed for Season 5 as of May 2026.

Season 4 is currently airing (premiered April 8, 2026, with a split-cour format: first half starting April, second in August), adapting later parts of Arc 5 and into Arc 6.

Current Status and Timeline

Season 3 wrapped up in early 2025 (split-cour: late 2024 to early 2025).

Season 4 followed relatively quickly (about a year after S3’s conclusion), produced by White Fox and streaming on Crunchyroll.

There is no official announcement, teaser, or confirmation for Season 5 from the studio, author Tappei Nagatsuki, or Kadokawa. Recent discussions and videos (as of early May 2026) explicitly note the lack of confirmation.

What We Know So Far

The light novels (source material) are ongoing with plenty of content available beyond what Season 4 covers (Arc 5/6 territory). Arcs like 7+ (e.g., Vollachia) are major and could span future seasons.

Production gaps have historically been long (multiple years between earlier seasons), though the quicker S3-to-S4 turnaround has fans hoping for a better pace. Realistic fan predictions for a potential Season 5 often land in 2028–2029 or later, depending on how Season 4 performs.

Studio situation: White Fox (the long-time studio) was acquired by AlphaPolis. This raised some fan concerns about priorities, but the founder has publicly stated plans to “stick with it until the end” (unless Kadokawa or the author decides otherwise), which has been reassuring.

10th Anniversary (2026): The anime is celebrating its 10th anniversary with 10 major projects throughout the year (merch, events, collabs, streams, etc.). While fans hoped for a Season 5 reveal among them, nothing of that nature has materialized so far—the announcements have focused on other content.

Bottom Line

Season 5 is very likely to happen eventually given the series’ popularity, sales, and remaining source material — but it hasn’t been greenlit publicly yet. The best thing fans can do is support Season 4 (viewership, merch, etc.), as strong performance would accelerate future seasons. Keep an eye on official Re:Zero channels, White Fox, or Crunchyroll for any updates.
