Jacqueline Fernandes wants to become government witness, Enforcement Directorate asks for time, next hearing on May 8
Tezzbuzz Desk – Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandes is once again in the headlines for a money laundering case of Rs 200 crore. In this case, his name is linked with alleged swindler Sukesh Chandrashekhar, on which the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating.
Recently, Jacqueline has taken a big step in this case and expressed her desire to become a government witness. On April 17, his lawyer had filed a petition in Patiala House Court seeking this permission. After this, the court issued a notice to the ED and sought its reply.
In the hearing held on April 20, ED sought time to file its reply on Jacqueline’s application. Accepting this, the court has postponed the next hearing of the case till May 8. Now eyes are on the next date, where it will be decided whether Jacqueline gets approval to become a government witness or not.
There are serious allegations against Sukesh Chandrashekhar and his wife Leena Paul in this case. According to Delhi Police, both of them moved the illegal money through Hawala network and shell companies. Action has also been taken in this case under Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA).
During the investigation, it was also revealed that Sukesh had given many expensive gifts to Jacqueline, after which the ED also made him a co-accused in the case. Before this, the agency had also interrogated him several times.
