Jacqueline Fernandez gets relief from Supreme Court in money laundering case, actress gets permission to withdraw petition
Jacqueline Fernandez Money laundering case: A new twist has come to light in the famous money laundering case of Rs 200 crore related to Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez. The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed the actress to withdraw her petition. He had filed this petition challenging the order of the Delhi High Court, in which it had refused to cancel the prosecution complaint of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against him. After this decision of the Supreme Court, Jacqueline will now have to face trial in the trial court in this case. This case is related to the Rs 200 crore money laundering case involving alleged swindler Sukesh Chandrashekhar, which the ED has been investigating for the last several years.
Permission to withdraw petition received from Supreme Court
During the hearing held on Thursday, Jacqueline Fernandez sought permission from the Supreme Court to withdraw her petition. On this, the top court accepted his demand and allowed him to withdraw the petition. This case will be heard by Supreme Court Justice B.V. The bench of Justice Nagarathna and Justice Joymalya Bagchi did this. The court accepted the request of the actress and gave permission to withdraw the petition.
Jacqueline had challenged the decision of the Delhi High Court, in which the court had refused to quash the prosecution complaint of the ED and quash the charges framed against her by the trial court. After this order of the High Court, the actress approached the Supreme Court.
Jacqueline has declared herself innocent
Jacqueline Fernandez has been continuously declaring herself innocent in this case. Recently, during her appearance in Delhi’s Patiala House Court on June 3, the actress had denied all the allegations leveled against her. She had clearly stated in the court that she considered herself innocent and wanted to face the case legally. Expressing her desire to face the trial, she had said that she would fight the case on the basis of its facts and merits.
Charges framed against 16 people including Sukesh Chandrashekhar
In this case, the trial court has also framed charges of money laundering against alleged swindler Sukesh Chandrashekhar, his wife Leena Maria Paul and 14 other accused. All the accused have declared themselves innocent in the court and have demanded a trial. The court has fixed July 16 for the next hearing of the case and further proceedings. Now the hearing of this high-profile case will proceed in the trial court, where all the accused will be heard on the basis of evidence and witnesses.
The application to become a government witness was also withdrawn.
This development of withdrawal of the petition in the Supreme Court has come to light when, just a few weeks ago, Jacqueline Fernandez had withdrawn her application filed to become a government witness in this case. The Enforcement Directorate had opposed this application. The investigating agency said that the attitude of the actress was not cooperative during the investigation and her behavior was not found satisfactory. ED had said in the court that in such a situation he should not be given the status of government witness.

It is alleged that Sukesh Chandrashekhar duped many people by pretending to be a government official and an influential person. According to the ED investigation, Sukesh and his associates had defrauded the wives of ex-Ranbaxy promoter brothers Shivinder Singh and Malvinder Singh of about Rs 200 crore. A case of money laundering was registered for diverting and using the money related to this alleged fraud. Many high-profile names came to light in this case, including the name of Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez.
