The anticipation surrounding Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming action entertainer Jailer 2 reached a major milestone as the film officially cleared its censor formalties ahead of its October 15 worldwide theatrical premiere.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) issued the official certificate to production house Sun Pictures, setting the stage for the massive festive release.
CBFC Certification and Runtime Details
The CBFC awarded Jailer 2 a UA 16+ certification. The official board documentation confirms a total running time of 165.18 minutes (2 hours, 45 minutes, and 11 seconds).
Interestingly, the sequel is slightly leaner than its 2023 predecessor, Jailer, which carried a UA rating and ran for 168.47 minutes (2 hours, 48 minutes, and 28 seconds).
Digital ‘Super Show’ Replaces Traditional Audio Launch
Departing from the conventional grand physical audio launch, Sun Pictures has opted for an exclusive digital release strategy. A special promotional event titled the ‘Jailer 2 Super Show’—featuring Rajinikanth, director Nelson Dilipkumar, and key cast members—is scheduled to stream on the SunNXT OTT platform on October 9.
The digital campaign follows the successful ‘Jailer 2 RAVE’ event held on September 30, where the film’s soundtrack composed by Anirudh Ravichander was unveiled to select fans.
Ensemble Cast and Cameo Expectations
Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 sees Rajinikanth reprising his celebrated role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.
Returning cast members include Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, and Rithvik. The sequel expands its star-studded ensemble with new additions:
- New Additions: SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Anna Rajan, and Jatin Sarna.
- Returning Cameos: Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff reprise their popular extended cameo roles.
Speculation continues to swirl around a potential mystery cameo teased in the recent trailer via silhouette imagery, with fans eagerly awaiting the theatrical presentation on October 15.
