Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah marries journalist Nidhi Razdan in a private ceremony

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tied the knot with veteran television journalist and author Nidhi Razdan in an intimate ceremony held in the national capital.

The 56-year-old Chief Minister took to X on Saturday to officially announce the nuptials, posting photographs alongside the caption, “A new journey began yesterday…” and tagging his bride.

Razdan also confirmed the news on social media with a lighthearted post stating, “It’s done bro.”

Private union under Special Marriage Act

Sources confirmed that the wedding was formalized under the Special Marriage Act in New Delhi on Friday. The low-key legal procedure was witnessed by close family members from both sides.

Subsequent wedding festivities held in Srinagar and New Delhi were attended by immediate relatives. Present at the celebrations were Abdullah’s parents, former Union Minister Farooq Abdullah and Mollie Abdullah, his three sisters, as well as Razdan’s parents, prominent journalist MK Razdan and Sarla Razdan.

The wedding portraits shared online depict the couple in traditional wedding attire posing in front of a floral arch adorned with white and pink blossoms, as well as on an ornate wooden staircase.

Second chapter for both

This marks the second marriage for both Abdullah and 49-year-old Razdan.

Abdullah was previously married to Payal Nath, a union that was officially dissolved by an order of the Supreme Court in July following a mutual consent settlement. Razdan, a prominent media figure best known for hosting ‘Left, Right & Centre’ during her 22-year tenure at NDTV 24×7, was also previously married.

The administrative milestones under Abdullah’s current tenure as Chief Minister include leading the union territory during the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir, an event showcasing over 1,100 global titles with industry stalwarts like Ramesh Sippy in attendance.
