Jammu and Kashmir: The situation has worsened due to heavy rains in Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir. In many areas, people are facing a lot of problems due to cloud bursts and sudden floods (flash floods). After heavy rains, a flood like situation was created in Thathri area of ​​Doda and Sarthal and Machipal areas of Kishtwar. Roads have been closed due to landslides at many places and movement of people has been affected.

Traffic completely affected on NH-244

Kishtwar-Doda National Highway (NH-244) has been most affected by rain and landslides. The highway was closed at many places due to debris and large stones falling from the hills. Due to this, the movement of vehicles stopped and some vehicles were also damaged. According to the administration, many other connectivity routes have also been affected due to continuous rain.

Relief and rescue operations continue

People affected by flash flood have been evacuated to safe places. Relief and rescue teams are continuously working in the affected areas. Administration teams are keeping an eye on the situation and the work of removing debris from the closed roads is being done rapidly. Machines and employees have been deployed for this. Officials said that no major loss of life or property has been reported so far, but property and infrastructure have been damaged in many areas. Bad weather, strong winds and hailstorm have also made the situation more difficult.

Woman dies due to lightning

A tragic incident has also come to light from Khudar area of ​​Doda district. Here a woman named Pinky Devi died due to lightning. The administration has expressed grief over the incident and has instructed the district authorities to provide immediate relief and assistance to the victim’s family.

Administration in alert mode

Disaster management and emergency teams have been put on high alert in both the districts. The administration has given instructions to restore water supply and road services soon. Also, people have been appealed to remain alert during bad weather and follow the advice of the administration.
