There was a long controversy regarding the film. The release of the film got stuck due to lack of certification from the Censor Board. But after a long wait, the actor himself has announced the new release date of the film. Now this film will be released in theaters worldwide on 23 July 2026.

Vijay confirmed the release date by sharing a new poster of the film on his social media account on Wednesday. After this announcement, tremendous enthusiasm is being seen among the fans.

The makers of the film also confirmed the release date by sharing a post on social media. It was written along with the post that this film is a story of struggle, time and history making. It was also told that ‘Jana Nayakan’ will now be among the audience on the big screen from July 23.

Earlier it was to be released in January
‘Jana Nayakan’ was earlier scheduled to release on January 9, 2026, on the occasion of Pongal. However, the film could not get the certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on time, due to which the release had to be postponed.

The matter even reached the court. The producers had initially challenged the CBFC’s decision, but later withdrew the petition and sent the film to the revising committee.

Got ‘A’ certificate after many changes
Recently, the film was given ‘A’ (Adult) certificate by CBFC after several cuts and necessary modifications. The makers had also shared its official information through social media. Now after the completion of the censor process, the way for the release of the film has been cleared.

The film is adorned with a strong star cast, Vijay’s last film.
Along with Thalapathy Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamita Baiju will be seen in important roles in ‘Jana Nayakan’. Apart from these, Gautam Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narayan and Priyamani are also a part of the film.

According to media reports, this film is believed to be inspired by director Anil Ravipudi’s Telugu film ‘Bhagwant Kesari’ released in the year 2023. However, there has been no official confirmation on this from the manufacturers.

‘Jana Nayakan’ is considered to be the last film of Thalapathy Vijay’s acting career. After becoming active in politics, Vijay has decided to stay away from films. In such a situation, this film is considered very special for his fans and its release was being awaited for a long time.
