During Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s three-day visit to India starting on Wednesday, the main focus will be on strengthening economic ties, developing strong supply chains for semiconductors and increasing cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Takaichi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold summit talks in New Delhi on July 2. The Japanese Prime Minister will also participate in a joint economic forum.

According to people aware of the matter, a joint declaration on economic security cooperation and a joint statement on cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) are likely to be issued after the talks between the two prime ministers. He said that both sides can finalize about 10 agreements.

According to sources, there is also a possibility of extensive discussion on measures to increase cooperation in important minerals and pharmaceutical sector between India and Japan. India-Japan relations have strengthened significantly in recent years. In 2014, relations between the two countries were given the status of special strategic and global partnership. Ahead of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027, the two countries have continuously deepened cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas, including trade and investment, economic security, defense and security, science and technology, culture and people-to-people contacts. At present more than 70 communication mechanisms exist between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi had visited Japan in August last year to attend the 15th annual summit held in Tokyo. The annual summit is considered a major platform to advance the agenda of strategic partnership between the two countries.
