Jazz, Jusuf Nurkić Agree to Two-Year, $22 Million Deal
The Utah Jazz have strengthened their frontcourt by bringing back veteran center Jusuf Nurkić, agreeing to a two-year, $22 million contract in one of the early moves of the NBA free agency period.
According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, Nurkić and the Jazz reached an agreement on the new deal, marking the Bosnian big man’s return to Utah after entering free agency this offseason.
The 31-year-old center adds valuable experience, size, and rebounding to a Jazz roster that continues to balance veteran leadership with its young core. Known for his physical style of play and strong passing ability from the post, Nurkić is expected to play an important role in Utah’s frontcourt rotation.
Last season, Nurkić provided reliable production as a rebounder and interior defender while also contributing offensively with his playmaking skills. Throughout his NBA career, he has established himself as one of the league’s most dependable traditional centers when healthy.
For the Jazz, the signing reflects the franchise’s desire to add proven veterans while continuing the development of its younger players. Nurkić’s experience should provide stability in the paint and give the coaching staff another dependable option against bigger frontcourts across the Western Conference.
The two-year agreement also offers Utah financial flexibility, as the franchise continues shaping its roster for the future while remaining competitive in the playoff race.
With free agency now underway, the Jazz are expected to remain active in the market, but re-signing Jusuf Nurkić gives the team an experienced interior presence as preparations begin for the 2026-27 NBA season.
