Jeju-Seoul Gimpo no longer world’s busiest domestic flight route

South Korea’s Jeju to Seoul Gimpo has lost its title as the world’s busiest domestic flight route to Japan’s Sapporo – Tokyo Haneda, according to a July report by British aviation analysis company OAG.

Sapporo New Chitose to Tokyo Haneda was the world’s busiest domestic route in July, offering 1.1 million scheduled seats and recording 8% year-on-year growth.

The route linking Seoul and Jeju Island, the world’s busiest domestic air corridor in 2025, slipped to second place by offering 1.07 million scheduled seats, falling 9% compared with the previous period.

The flight between Seoul and Jeju takes around one hour and 15 minutes and is popular with travelers combining a visit to the South Korean capital with a trip to Jeju Island.

Often dubbed the “Hawaii of South Korea,” the island is famed for its volcanic scenery, UNESCO-listed natural attractions, and distinctive cultural heritage, including the haenyeo — female free divers who have harvested seafood for generations.
