Jewelery and watches worth Rs 25 lakh stolen from Raveena Tandon’s house, trusted woman arrested
Tezzbuzz Desk – Police have taken major action in an alleged theft case related to the family of actress Raveena Tandon in Mumbai. Juhu Police has arrested a 47-year-old woman named Rashi Chhabria, who is accused of stealing jewelery and expensive watches worth lakhs of rupees by winning the trust of her family.
According to the police, the accused was in touch with the Tandon family for the last several years and used to visit their house regularly to take care of the actress’s 86-year-old mother Veena Tandon. After gaining the trust of the family, he also got access to many private parts of the house.
Investigation has revealed that the accused is accused of stealing valuables by breaking the locker kept in the family’s residence in Juhu. Apart from gold and diamond jewellery, two expensive watches of film producer and Raveena’s brother Rajeev Tandon are also said to be included in the stolen items.
According to the police complaint, the theft came to light when the family examined the jewelery ahead of the Dussehra festival. During investigation it was found that many precious jewelery were missing from the locker. The stolen items include gold bangles, necklaces, rings, earrings, diamond studded mangalsutra and other precious jewellery, the total value of which is said to be around Rs 25 lakh.
When the family questioned Rashi Chhabria in this matter, she initially denied any involvement. However, later a complaint was lodged with the police, after which investigation began and the accused was arrested.
According to police sources, the accused had allegedly tried to mislead the family by saying that the jewelery was with some other person and would be recovered soon. But when the goods were not recovered, the family took help of the police.
During the investigation, some stolen watches have been recovered, while the search for the remaining jewelery and valuables is going on. Juhu Police is currently investigating all aspects of the case and is trying to recover the remaining stolen items.
