Soon we will be seeing the entry of a new automaker in India and if you have not guessed which automaker, we are talking about billionaire Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group’s new brand, JSW Motors. The company is planning to make a big entrance in India with an aggressive product rollout. It is expected to launch a number of SUVs with both hybrid and fully electric powertrains. The first model is expected to arrive around the festive season this year. So, without any more wastage of your precious time, here are the details of the upcoming JSW Motors SUVs.
The Jetour T2-based SUV is expected to become the first product from JSW Motors in India. It has already been spotted testing on Indian roads and is expected to arrive around the festive season. The T2 boasts a bold and upright design with a boxy silhouette, muscular wheel arches and a rugged appearance. Internationally, it is available with both five-seat and seven-seat layouts. However, the exact seating configuration for India is yet to be confirmed.
The biggest highlight of this SUV will be its plug-in hybrid powertrain. It is expected to use a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine combined with dual electric motors and a 26.7 kWh battery pack. It is expected to make around 381 bhp and 610 Nm of torque. The T2 will be capable of driving around 139 km on electric power alone, and its combined range will be around 1,000 km. The expected price could be around Rs 30 lakh to Rs 45 lakh in the premium SUV segment.

Next up in the launch cards is the Jaecoo J5-based SUV. This will be another important product in JSW Motors’ upcoming portfolio. It has already been spotted testing in India, and it is expected to be positioned in the electric mid-size SUV segment.
The J5 will boast a clean and modern exterior with LED headlamps, connected tail lamps and large alloy wheels. The cabin is expected to boast a long list of features, including a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated seats, multi-zone climate control and Level 2 ADAS.
The electric version is expected to use a 60.9 kWh battery pack and a front-mounted electric motor. It will produce around 210 bhp and 288 Nm. The claimed range in international specifications is around 460 km. This SUV could become one of the most important models for JSW Motors because the demand for electric SUVs is going up in the Rs 20 lakh-plus segment.

One of the most affordable yet unique SUVs coming from JSW Motors is the iCAUR V23-based SUV. It will be aimed at buyers who want something different from the usual electric SUV design. The model will boast a boxy and retro-inspired appearance with styling elements that give it a strong lifestyle SUV character.
The V23 has also been spotted testing in India and is expected to be one of the initial products from JSW Motors. Internationally, it comes available with two battery options. The smaller 59.93 kWh battery is paired with a rear-wheel-drive setup and produces around 136 bhp and 180 Nm.
Meanwhile, the larger 81.76 kWh battery can be paired with an AWD system producing around 211 bhp and 292 Nm. The claimed range will depend on the version opted for. The larger battery pack offers more than 500 km. The Chery iCar V23 is expected to be priced around Rs 18 to 25 lakh.

JSW Motors is also expected to launch the Chery Tiggo 8 in India. This will be a larger three-row SUV and will measure around 4.7 metres in length and could compete with models such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO. The Tiggo 8 will feature a modern cabin with a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless charging, premium audio system, ventilated seats, a 540-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.
Internationally, the SUV is offered with multiple powertrain options. These include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre hybrid system. An intelligent AWD system is also available depending on the variant. The Chery Tiggo 8 is expected to be priced around Rs 30 to 45 lakh.

Last on the list is the Exlantix ET, and it will be the most luxurious SUV from JSW Motors. It is sold as the Chery Exeed Sterra ET in China. For those who may not be aware, Exeed is Chery’s premium brand. The SUV will boast a 3,000 mm wheelbase and a spacious cabin. Meanwhile, international versions are available with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.
Its battery options in China range from 66 kWh to 97.6 kWh depending on the variant. JSW Motors has not confirmed the Exlantix ET for India. It is being evaluated by the company and could eventually launch it in the country.
