Veteran New Zealand actor Sam Neillbest known for portraying Dr. Alan Grant in the blockbuster Jurassic Park franchise, has died at the age of 78. His family confirmed that the acclaimed actor passed away on Monday in Sydney, Australia.
In a statement shared on Sam Neill’s official Instagram account, his family said he died peacefully while surrounded by loved ones.
“The loss was sudden and unexpected, but Sam remained cancer free. We ask that you respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time,” the statement said.
The family also expressed gratitude to the medical staff at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Sydney for their care during his final days.

Sam Neill began attracting international attention with his performance in Sleeping Dogs before building an impressive career across film and television.
He appeared in several acclaimed productions, including Dead Calm, The Piano, In the Mouth of Madnessand Event Horizon.
