Just now: Bad news for LPG customers, now these people will not get cylinders, government has banned

New Delhi. A major step has been taken by the government to ensure that the LPG consumers of the country do not face any kind of problem. The government has immediately banned refilling of LPG cylinders for such households which already have PNG connections. Amidst the ongoing war in the Middle East and the crisis created by it, India wants to secure its LPG supply. Due to this, the government has taken this tough decision. According to the notification issued by the government, customers who start using PNG will have to surrender the LPG connection within 30 days or take a transfer voucher for future use.

The new order of the government comes after the instructions issued in March, in which PNG customers were asked to leave LPG connections within three months. In fact, after the ongoing tension in West Asia and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, energy imports from there have been adversely affected. Due to this, there is constant pressure on LPG supply in the country. Now the government has tightened the rules and made it clear that after the PNG connection, no customer will be able to book LPG cylinder.

Such people will get relief from government rules
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry has taken care of the convenience of the general public in the new rules. According to the ministry, customers who have shifted to PNG can avail a transfer voucher. If in future they shift to an area where PNG facility is not available, they will be able to get their old LPG connection back with the help of this voucher. This step of the government will provide relief to those employees who are often transferred. This system will also prove helpful for tenants, students and migrants.

Consumption of 33 million tonnes of LPG annually
About 33 million tonnes of LPG is consumed annually in the country. India imports 90 percent of its LPG requirement from the countries of West Asia, hence the ongoing war there has increased the country’s concern. However, to handle the situation, the government has started importing fuel from other global markets like America, Canada and Norway. The ministry says that despite the geo-political circumstances, there will be no shortage of LPG to the customers at the domestic level. During the last four days, about 1.72 crore cylinders have been delivered in the country against the booking of 1.66 crore cylinders.
