The newspaper ‘Samvad Pratidin’ published from Kolkata has quoted sources and reported that 12 TMC MPs have made up their mind to join BJP or support it. According to the newspaper, apart from these, 5-6 more TMC MPs may leave Mamata Banerjee. If the number of MPs leaving the party becomes two-thirds, then even the anti-defection law will not work against them. The number of MPs of Mamata Banerjee’s TMC in the Lok Sabha is 29. If 19 MPs leave TMC and decide to form a separate faction or join BJP, Mamata Banerjee will have no option but to just see it through.

According to the newspaper, it can be decided by the monsoon session of Parliament whether TMC MP leaves Mamata Banerjee or not. The special thing is that after the formation of BJP government in West Bengal, all the TMC leaders have given statements about the irregularities that have happened so far. TMC councilors have left in all the districts. Apart from this, when TMC MLAs had protested in the West Bengal Assembly recently, many MLAs of the party were not present there. However, TMC said that the MLA was not present due to a pre-planned programme. In such a situation, it remains to be seen whether Mamata Banerjee’s TMC breaks?
