Former Tamil Nadu BJP state president Annamalai may announce his resignation tomorrow, poster raises political temperature

New Delhi. Former Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai was marginalized in the party for the last few days. Former State President Annamalai has now decided to leave the party. Annamalai can announce his resignation from the primary membership of BJP in a press conference on June 5.

Earlier, the party high command had tried to convince K Annamalai. Annamalai also met PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President Nitin Nabin in New Delhi. PM Modi and Amit Shah had also congratulated Annamalai on her birthday.

In a meeting with top BJP leaders including Amit Shah and Nitin Navin (BJP National President Nitin Nabin), Annamalai had expressed her desire to leave the party in an amicable atmosphere. Top BJP leaders had also urged Annamalai to reconsider her decision to leave BJP. BJP leadership had also asked for some time from Annamalai. Annamalai has now decided to form his own party. Annamalai wanted that either he should be handed over the command of Tamil Nadu BJP with a free hand for seven years or he should be allowed to choose his separate path in an amicable manner while keeping the option of working together in future open.

What did Annamalai say?

Before leaving for Delhi, he had told the journalists, “Please wait. We will sit and talk in two days. Now everyone’s eyes are on his birthday to see whether he makes any big announcement or not.”

Annamalai’s BJP journey

Joined BJP in 2020. Become the youngest president of Tamil Nadu BJP in just 10 months. He himself lost in the 2021 assembly elections, but got 4 seats for the party, which marked the return of BJP in Tamil Nadu after 20 years. BJP’s vote share in Tamil Nadu increased from 3.66% to 11.24% in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Ahead of speculations of Annamalai leaving BJP, her poster with actors Ajith and Rajinikanth has raised the political temperature. His supporters put up posters in Madurai. In these posters, the former state president is shown shaking hands with actors Rajinikanth and Ajith. It seems that his supporters are asking him to choose a different path.
