Kailash Kher got angry on ‘Sing two lines’, said – don’t make the artist a joker

Delhi: In any big program it is often seen that the singers present on the stage are suddenly requested to sing, as if it is a normal and light thing. But famous singer Kailash Kher has challenged this thinking and clearly said that calling artists like this reduces their art and respect. Recently during a program he openly expressed his displeasure on this issue.

Kailash Kher participated in the seventh edition of Six Sigma Leadership Summit held at Taj Palace, Delhi on 25 April. During this program, when the stage operator requested him to sing a few lines, he did not seem happy with it. He simply said that this habit needs to be changed. According to him, it is wrong to just ask a singer to “sing two lines” and it is not a true respect for the hard work and dedication of the artist. He also said that making such requests should be avoided.

Do not consider the artist as a “means of entertainment”

Kailash Kher gave examples to make his statement more clear. He said that just as no one tells Sachin Tendulkar to “show it by hitting a six”, or no one tells a soldier to “take your position and show action”, similarly it is not right to say the same to singers. He stressed that artists are not jokers, but rather seekers, who are completely immersed in their art. According to him, considering artists only as a means of entertainment is to diminish their dignity.

Mixed reaction received on social media

Different opinions of people were seen on this statement of Kailash Kher on social media. Some people supported his point and called it a necessary step towards respecting the artists. At the same time, some users disagreed with this thinking. One user wrote that if singing two lines brings a smile on people’s faces, then what is wrong in it. Others also said that if a big or influential person had asked them to do so, perhaps they would not have refused. On the other hand, many people in his support said that finally someone has raised this issue and it is necessary to change this thinking.
