The happiness of the family going to Kainchi Dham turned into mourning, five people died after falling into a 500 meter deep gorge.
A painful road accident in Nainital district of Uttarakhand on Thursday shocked the entire area. A family going to visit the famous Kainchi Dham of Baba Neem Karauli met with an accident on the way. It is being told that the car went out of control at a sharp turn and fell into a ditch about 500 meters deep, due to which five people in the car died on the spot. As soon as information about the accident was received, police, SDRF and local administration reached the spot.
Darshan’s journey became the last journey
According to the information, the family had gone on a religious journey and was about to reach Kainchi Dham. The car suddenly went out of driver’s control amidst the continuous turns and deep ditches on the hilly roads. Within no time the vehicle fell off the road into a ditch. The accident was so horrific that the car was blown to pieces and no one even got a chance to recover.
Local people informed the police as soon as they heard the sound of the accident. After this, relief and rescue operations were started. But by the time the teams reached down, all the passengers had died.
Huge difficulties faced in rescue operation
Since the incident site was in a very remote area, relief work was not easy. SDRF teams had to use ropes and special equipment to descend into the ditch. After several hours of hard work the bodies were taken out.
According to police officials, in the initial investigation, the cause of the accident is believed to be the loss of balance of the vehicle at a sharp turn. However, technical reasons and road conditions are also being investigated. The administration has informed the families of the deceased and the post-mortem process has been started.
Increasing accidents on hilly roads are a matter of concern
The continuously increasing road accidents in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand are a cause for concern. Especially the sharp turns, narrow roads and deep ditches on the routes leading to religious places are proving to be a big danger for the travelers. Experts believe that extra caution and controlled speed is very important while driving in hilly areas.
Kainchi Dham is a major center of faith for devotees across the country, where lakhs of people visit every year. But this painful accident has once again brought to the fore the challenges of mountain travel and the need for road safety.
