Kalinga Studio Reopens After Rs 164-Crore Makeover; CM Majhi to Inaugurate Tomorrow

In a major boost to the Odia film industry (Ollywood), the long wait is finally over as shooting lights are set to glow once again at the legendary Kalinga Studio.

Following an extensive makeover funded by the State Government at an estimated cost of Rs 164 crore, the fully modernised facility is complete and ready for action. Chief Minister Mohan Charran Majhi will officially inaugurate the transformed studio complex tomorrow.

World-Class Infrastructure & Modern Amenities

Reimagined with a vision to empower filmmakers, directors, and artists with modern technology, Kalinga Studio has been upgraded into a top-tier film production hub:

  • Modern Floors & Sets: The facility features newly constructed, soundproof shooting floors equipped with advanced lighting and versatile structural setups tailored for diverse filmmaking needs.

  • Comprehensive Post-Production Capabilities: To streamline film workflows, state-of-the-art equipment has been installed for high-end sound recording, editing, mixing, and Visual Effects (VFX).

  • Enhanced Comfort & Hospitality: The complex incorporates high-quality residential accommodations for cast and crew, modern green rooms, and well-equipped cafeterias to ensure a comfortable work environment.

Breathing New Life into Odia Cinema

With these comprehensive upgrades, Odisha’s local filmmakers will no longer need to travel outside the state for high-end production or post-production services. This localised access is expected to significantly reduce production budgets while elevating the technical quality of Odia films. Furthermore, the revived studio complex is set to generate widespread employment and economic opportunities for local artists, technicians, and support staff.

The resurrection of Kalinga Studio marks a transformative chapter for Ollywood, sparking immense enthusiasm and high expectations among film lovers and industry stakeholders across the state.
