Kanye West India concert cancelled again
New Delhi: The much-anticipated India debut of Kanye West has been cancelled for a second time after authorities issued security-related directives, organisers confirmed on Thursday.
The concert, scheduled for May 23, 2026, in New Delhi, was set to mark the rapper’s first-ever performance in the country. However, officials instructed organisers to call off the event citing concerns over public safety and security.
Organisers cite safety concerns
Event organisers White Fox announced the cancellation through an official statement shared on Instagram, expressing disappointment over the development.
“We are deeply disheartened to announce that Ye Live in India… will not be able to proceed due to directives issued by officials,” the statement read. It added that despite months of preparation for what was expected to be one of the largest live productions staged in India, “the safety and well-being of attendees and citizens remain our highest priority.”
The organisers also thanked fans, partners and crew members for their support.
Refunds and rescheduling plans
White Fox confirmed that all tickets purchased through the official platform District will be fully refunded within five to seven business days. The company added that discussions are ongoing with Ye’s team to identify a new date and venue for the performance.
Second postponement amid ongoing tensions
This is the second time the concert has been called off. The show was initially scheduled for March 29, 2026, but was postponed due to geopolitical tensions linked to the US-Iran situation.
The event was later rescheduled for May 23, with the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium announced as the venue. However, renewed security concerns ultimately led to its cancellation.
Part of broader touring challenges
The setback adds to a series of disruptions surrounding Ye’s global touring plans over the past year. Several international performances have reportedly faced cancellations or logistical hurdles, compounded by controversies linked to the artist’s past public statements.
Uncertain road ahead
While organisers remain hopeful about rescheduling the India concert, no fresh dates have been confirmed so far. For now, fans will have to wait longer for what would have been a landmark moment in India’s live music scene.
